Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 22
Lent is a season of the Christian year, forty days before Easter, where Christians focus on simple living, prayer, and fasting in order to grow closer to God. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 22 and goes to Easter Sunday, April 9. It's about one-tenth of a year, likened to a tithe of time. Lent is a time to give of yourself in a special way that enables you to grow closer to God and to experience God's grace.
The Lenten Calendar is a valuable tool to help us observe the season of Lent. Download the Lent Calendar to help guide your focus to dwell on God’s grace during this Lent season, and to make new traditions that focus on self-sacrifice not in “giving up” but in “doing for” others in a sacrificial way. What sacrifices could you make during these forty days that would benefit others? The activities listed each day on the Lenten Calendar are great for meal time discussion and can be done as a family or individually.
