Because of expected ice storm on Sunday January 9, only 8:30 worship will take place onsite.

A Word from Pastor Bill

April 24, 2025
Dear Redland Family,
I am very pleased to share two important and exciting things happening at Redland.

#1 NEW SUNDAY WORSHIP SCHEDULE!
Redland is moving to one worship service on Sunday May 4. The Redland Church Council has been in prayerful discussions and soliciting feedback from the congregation on this topic. This past Monday the decision was made to move forward and the date to begin was set.

With the move to one service various options were discussed regarding times and flow of our Sunday morning schedule. The option that prevailed strikes a compromise by moving the start times of worship and Grace Group/Sunday School. This move will accommodate music team warmups, tech team audio and live stream checks, etc. We are also hopeful this schedule will be a boost to our Grace Group participation. Coffee will be available between worship and GG/SS. Extended care will be available during worship.

Beginning Sunday, May 4, 2025, the new Sunday Schedule will be:
9:30am    Worship and Online Live Stream
  10:30am  Coffee Fellowship
10:45am  Grace Groups Discipleship for all ages

This change is not necessarily permanent. We will continue to evaluate and receive ongoing feedback from the congregation. Please email your thoughts at [email protected].  We will have a more formal evaluation during the month of August.

#2 UPCOMING SPECIAL BUSINESS MEETING and TIMELINE
The Personnel Committee has been praying and working toward finding two candidates to present to the church to serve as Acting Pastor and Interim Pastor. Please feel free to ask questions and provide feedback to Brad Holmes, Personnel Chair at [email protected]

Acting Pastor
The April 7 Church Council meeting affirmed Rev. Bill Archer to serve as Acting Pastor. Pastor Bill will be recommended to the church in a special business meeting (timeline below).

Interim Pastor
In addition, the Church Council affirmed the process to evaluate and present Dr. Mike Trammell to serve as Interim Pastor. This process included the congregation receiving an e-mail from the Personnel Committee on April 10 that included Dr. Trammell’s resume (also available from the church office), online sermons to review, and a follow-up Church Council meeting on April 21 to discuss and provide feedback.

Note from Personnel Committee: We are very excited about this opportunity and we see God’s hand at work, providing the perfect timing for Dr. Mike Trammell to join us as early as next month. He desires to preach nearly every Sunday, provide a Wednesday night Bible study, and be available to meet with staff and parishioners on Wednesday afternoons. But more than this, he has a pastor’s heart and a deep desire to love God’s people.

Dr. Mike Trammell will come to preach in view of a call on Sunday, May 4, followed by discussion and a recommendation at a special business meeting. Here is the timeline of events leading up to the special business meeting.

Saturday, May 3: Meet the Interim Candidate
  9:30-10:30am – Meet with Deacons
  10:45-11:45am – Meet with Staff
12:00pm – Lunch: with Personnel Committee
  1:00- 2:00pm – Congregational Drop-In

Sunday, May 4: Interim Candidate Preach in View of a Call

Monday, May 5: Specially Called Business Meeting
Discussion and Vote on Acting and Interim Job Descriptions. Discussion only on Interim and Acting Pastor Candidates. Suspend meeting to the following Sunday for conclusion.

Sunday, May 11: Specially Called Business Meeting (Conclusion)
Secret Ballot vote on each candidate for Interim and Acting Pastor (no discussion).

Please continue to be in prayer for the unity of God’s precious Redland family and for God to reveal more and more of Himself and His nature to us so we can better fulfill the mission and ministry to which we are called.

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. – Ephesians 5:1-2

Your Pastor and Friend,
Bill
