William Booth, Founder of Salvation Army
Known as the “Prophet to the Poor”, evangelist William Booth launched a church
and ministry dedicated to both spiritual salvation and social reform in late nineteenth
century England. From the humblest of beginnings, the Salvation Army now minsters in
over 130 countries. God used a poor uneducated boy to launch a worldwide mission of
caring for the spiritual and physical needs of the most disadvantaged among us.
