Through his prophets, God promised the coming Messiah.  This is an especially powerful message for a people who had totally blown it.  Think about it.  They had proven for 500 years that God's loving laws were not enough to keep them close to him.   They needed something more.  The Messiah would redeem them, judge the world, and give them something to celebrate.  Godless enemies had overrun the land, but the King would rule in righteousness.

We see a great deal of lawlessness ourselves, and we wonder how it will be made right.  Jesus's kingdom establishes what is right - not through coercion but through heart change.  How has he changed your heart?  You can discuss that together this week.
