Upward Game Day Volunteers Needed!

Upward practices have begun and Upward Games start January 13 and 14!

Upward Basketball and Cheer has over 500 volunteer slots for the season including set-up, scorekeeping, clean-up, and concessions. If you have wondered how to partner with this amazing outreach ministry, just take a look at these opportunities and take a few volunteer slots. All you need to volunteer is a willingness to share of yourself, share the love of God, and a smile! Consistent faces throughout the season allow relationships to form and bring out natural faith conversations.

Did you know? We have 50 Upward Basketball Teams and 2 Cheer Squads this season and 114 of the players (out of a total of 516 kids) have indicated their families do not regularly attend a church. This year we are recruiting Redland ambassadors or "Sponsors" for each team. Most teams have few Redland players on them and we want to intentionally build relationships and connections with those who God is sending into our sphere of influence.  

What does sponsorship involve?

• You will get the names and contact info for the players and coaches on your team so you can pray for them and send them encouraging cards/notes/email regularly.
• We will have a beginning of the season "Tip Off" Worship on Sunday, January 8 at 11am followed by a celebration lunch in the ROC that you can invite your team to and get to meet your players and coaches.
• You will get the game schedule of your team (Friday nights or Saturday) so you can attend the games and cheer for your team. Signs in support of your team are encouraged.
• You can volunteer to bring post-game snacks.
• You can find creative ways to build relationships with the players and their families all season long (January - early March).
